Getting my room ready for a cat?

i am getting a cat soon and my room has a cupbored filled with dvds cds and wiers and a book shelve that doesn't have any books in it just some toys (memory of childhood and my aunts kids come here alot) extra sheets and pillows my bed my closet which at the moment i broke the door so it has no door and alot of posters (sweeney todd mass effect resident evil prince of persia call of duty ) all i love so much most impportantly the sweeny todd poster and the resident evil poster the room is the same even since i was a kid use to live in it with my bro but now he sleeps in the living room and he is fine by it so i took his bed and i put it next to main and now it's one big bed am 13 and my name is sarah ( name to know if male or female) so how do i get the room ready for a cat ane also can a cat eat brocoli or chesse or peas just answer these types of food i have all the info i need about food just those left
